Tuscany and its wines - Wine tasting tour
What is Chianti? This emblematic wine is made all over the Tuscan countryside, but the historic heart lies in a region between Florence and Siena. In 1716, Cosimo de' Medici III, Grand Duke of Tuscany, decreed that this region could produce what today is known as chianti classico – easily recognizable by the Gallo Nero, its distinctive Black Rooster label. The key to the unique qualities of Chianti classico is the local sangiovese grape. Right now there is a strong movement to return to the ancient traditions of winemaking along with an eco-responsible trend towards organic cultivation.
The perfect first step to understanding the complex world of Chianti classico is to make an appointment for a tasting at one of our wineries.
These shared tours have been thought to give you the opportunity to share a fantastic wine experience along with others wine enthusiast. Every week I have some different itineraries going to explore the best DOCG areas of Tuscany such as Chianti Classico, Montepulciano, and Brunello di Montalcino.
These kinds of tours are informative and fun, infact you can meet the owner who will explain all about the making process and he will try to teach you the right protocol for a wine tasting.
Wine Tour Description
will commence with a drive through the breathtaking Tuscan countryside as you delve into the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Over the course of the tour, you will visit two first-class wineries that will give you a comprehensive look at the wine making process. Our experienced guides will be with you every step of the way, teaching you about the wines and the best ways to taste them. In addition to Chianti Classico the DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) wines, you will be able to enjoy the IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) or "Super Tuscans."
By far the most famous of the Tuscan wines, Chianti, is a red wine produced in the Chianti region and is made from the Sangiovese grape, giving it a note of summer fruit and spices. Not all Chianti wines are created equally and those of the Chianti Classico form are thought to be of the highest quality. This stems from the fact that these wines can only be called Chianti Classico if they are produced in specific region of Tuscany, known for its Chianti production, and if they adhere to stringent rules regarding the process by which they are made.
